Quantitative requirements

  • Each doctoral candidate must complete ~180 hours of training.

  • Training is organised at two levels: network‑wide and local through doctoral school and host institution offers.

Mandatory network‑wide training

All doctoral candidates attend these multi‑day events (25 days total)

  • Welcome PhD initial workshop (5 days, Catalonia): Introduction Day, introduction to climate change / WATER-LAND-ENERGY, conducting your doctoral project, scientific ethics & research Integrity and gender diversity & inclusion perspectives.
  • Winter school (5 days, Occitania): Open Science and data management, AI tools, IPRs & regulatory aspects, conflict management, research topic courses.
  • Public engagement & communication school (5 days, Balearic Islands): Science communication and communication skills in english, research topic courses, sciences diplomacy.
  • Career, entrepreneurship, exploitation & start‑up workshop (5 days, online): CV and interview training, entrepreneurship, IP exploitation, networking day.

 

Specific TERRA-MED research training (5 Days)

Trainings organised in parallel:

  • Water programme in Girona – Universitat de Girona (UdG)
  • Land programme in Palma- Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB)
  • Energy programme in Toulouse- Université de Toulouse (UT)

Local training

  • Each doctoral candidate is enrolled in the doctoral school of the recruiting institution and follows its compulsory courses. Including:

    • Scientific summer schools and thematic courses in each axis.

    • Transversal skills: project management, teaching, language courses, entrepreneurship, grant writing, ethics, career days…
